Institute For Climate And Society

The Institute for Climate and Society (iCS) is a philanthropic organization that promotes prosperity, justice and low carbon development in Brazil. We operate as a bridge between international and national funders and local partners. Consequently, we are part of a wide network of philanthropic organizations that are dedicated to finding solutions to the climate crisis. iCS outlines plans of action to overcome climate problems from a social perspective. Therefore, it prioritizes measures that, in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, also result in improvements in the quality of life for society, especially for those most vulnerable. The main activity of the Institute is to provide grants in order to promote projects and organizations that seek to: • BUILD evidence that qualifies the debate and supports the decision-making • PROMOTE advocacy, campaigns and communication • CREATE spaces of interaction between different actors and sectors • ENCOURAGE the exchange of knowledge and experience between Brazil and the rest of the world Furthermore, we are also dedicated to the engagement of society with the subject of climate change, the implementation of our own projects and the capacity building of civil society organizations.
