A 501(c)(3), the Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer ("CSF") works to directly assist in need cancer patients and their families throughout the state.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cancer endangers more than just the life of the victim it inflicts. For hard-working individuals, their fight with cancer all too often becomes an insurmountable burden while providing for their families. Cancer dramatically complicates the lives of these families - jobs are placed on hold and medical bills skyrocket. The patient becomes at risk to starve and become homeless. Enter the unique mission of CSF.
While numerous cancer-related non-profits raise awareness or fund research, CSF directly supports these patients. Through recipient grants, CSF helps pay monthly mortgage payments/rents/utilities as well as providing funds for food, medications, gas, and transportation to and from hospitals and/or treatment centers for patients and their families. Referred to us by dedicated oncology social workers from Connecticut hospitals, hospices, and cancer treatment centers, each CSF applicant is thoroughly screened by these professionals.
Each year, CSF also designates a grant to aid the pioneering Dr. Joachim Yahalom in his research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
