Indiana University Dance Marathon, commonly known as IU Dance Marathon or IUDM, is a 36-hour Dance Marathon that takes place every fall at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with the purpose of raising both funding and awareness for pediatric care. IUDM was started in 1991 to honor the life of Ryan White and has grown to become the second largest student-run organization in the nation. Since then, IUDM has raised over $20 million for Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN.
IUDM is managed by 23 Executive Council members that oversee 18 committees. Over 1,400 committee members work year round to the raise awareness, hold events, and prepare for the 36-hour marathon. Over 3,000 dancers participate in the marathon and in 2014 IUDM raised $3,880,025.22 for Riley Hospital for Children.
