A student organization at the University of Washington, HuskyADAPT aims to design a more accessible future through conversation and engineering development. Our team works in three groups focused on toy adaptation, design teams, and community outreach.
Toy adaptation strives to teach students, clinicians, and community members how to adapt toys for children with disabilities. Monthly workshops are hosted where off-the-shelf toys are adapted to give out to individuals and organizations.
Design teams collaborate with groups or individuals in the community to define accessibility-related challenges, design possible solutions, and build and test prototypes.
Community outreach has worked with organizations outside of the University of Washington from Inglemoor High School to King County Libraries and Microsoft to engage the community in our mission.
