HSA offers a wide range of innovative services in disability, mental health and professional community sector training. We are a not-for-profit local community organisation operating in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Mt Morgan area.
At HSA we work with people to identify their strengths, interests, and goals and support them to explore opportunities in their community so they can live the lifestyle they choose. Some of the areas we can support people with include; managing household tasks, personal care, attending community events, participating in leisure and recreation activities, developing social skills & relationships, attending appointments & shopping.
Wandal Garden Day Service is a program run by HSA. At the day service we support people with a disability to participate in activities that have a strong focus on daily living skill development, problem solving, decision making, communication and social interaction in a team environment.
Some of the activities include; cooking, photography, art & craft, woodwork, music, and establishing a functioning food production garden. Client participation in planning these activities is central to the operation of the day service.
Yellow Door Books and Gifts is a social enterprise owned and operated by Home Support Association, with the generous assistance of a team of volunteers.
Proceeds from this business assist in increasing the participation of people with a disability in our community. HSA runs a retail skill development program for people with a disability within Yellow Door to provide the participants with a skill set which is expected to increase the chance of obtaining paid employment.
Yellow Door is an iconic local landmark that has for many years contributed to the community through supporting events and local artisans.
Yellow Door also provides several services to customers including; quality second hand books, special orders for new books, photocopying, printing, scanning, and faxing.
