Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester’s mission is to build homes, communities, and hope. We are dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families gain strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing.
At Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester (HFH-MW/GW), our motto is “a hand up, not a handout.” We build houses with families, not for them. We partner with hardworking families who earn between 30% – 60% of the area median income and do not qualify for other homeownership programs. Not only do Habitat families pay for their homes through an affordable monthly mortgage, they also put in between 400 and 500 hours of sweat equity prior to becoming homeowners. In addition, families must attend financial education classes, provided by HFH MW/GW. Habitat homes are built in partnership with donors and funders, and the volunteer labor of over 3,000 individuals in a calendar year. We serve local families and Veterans in 42 cities and towns throughout MetroWest and Greater Worcester.
Our programs include Home Builds, Operation Playhouse, and Home Repairs for local families and veterans. HFH MW/GW operates two ReStores in our service area. The Worcester ReStore is located at 640 Lincoln Street, Suite 100 and the Ashland ReStore is located at 310 Pond Street. One-hundred percent of the revenue from our ReStores benefits our mission to build homes, communities, and hope for local families and Veterans. Visit our ReStores to find treasures and bargains – or donate your used items that are in good condition to help keep our landfills clear.
