Global Roaming Pilbara Foundation Inc (GRPF) is was established as a result of 12 years of program delivery in the Pilbara. The primary aim of the Foundation is to be an overarching body to administer several community based programs, initially operating in Roebourne.
Board Directors have been selected due to their professional capabilities and passion for this project. Emphasis will be placed on training local community members through the Australian Institute of Company Directors course (AICD), who will eventually take over the Directorship of the Foundation.
GRPF will be community based, with local community members making decisions on what education, employment and leadership skills they require to ensure success in areas such as tourism, small business and enterprise. Central to this model succeeding is the focus on education from Kindergarten through to access to Tertiary studies in the Pilbara.
GRPF and all of its programs are inclusive of all community regardless of race, age, ethnicity or gender. Reconciliation is a priority, not only between race and culture, but also within the fractured community in which Roebourne is currently experiencing between family and skin groups. In saying this, there is a focus on children at risk and those that are not engaged in mainstream, or indeed, any education or employment.
