Who We Are A faith community with a rich history of seeking to be faithful to God’s leading. First Baptist Church is a faith community with a rich history of seeking to be faithful to God’s leading, guiding and directing in our lives. We believe our mission comes straight from the teachings of Jesus when he calls us to love the Lord your God though your heart, mind, soul and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. We further believe Christ’s call to go into all the world and make disciples applies to us. We seek first to grow in our understanding and love of God and then share that love with the world around us. We are always striving to be a Christ centered, Holy Spirit led community. We value the gifts and abilities God has blessed people with and seek to work together to meet the needs of individuals and families within our communities. Our goal is to help people encounter God in the midst of their everyday lives thus empowering them to grow spiritually. A place where friendships are born … We have a set of core values that serve to guide and direct our community’s life. First and foremost is our belief that people matter to God and so they should matter to us. We further believe that all people are spiritual beings and so we commit to journeying with them as they deepen their relationship with God. Our remaining core values serve to guide community life here at First Baptist Church. As an American Baptist congregation we celebrate a rich heritage of faithfulness to the Scriptures and God’s leading. For those unfamiliar with American Baptist church life “we are American Baptists” is a great introduction into some of our core beliefs. A place where we support each other In Hebrews chapters 11 and 12 the apostle Paul speaks about the pillars of the faith. He reminds the readers of the rich history and great heritage they share with men and women who pursued a deepening active relationship with God.
