Every year, a different city is designated as the European Capital of Democracy through a rigorous selection process involving Experts' and Citizens' Juries – creating a hub and stage for democratic innovation. In cooperation with civil society and citizens, the title-holding city hosts Democracy Year, featuring a series of vibrant activities and events to celebrate democracy, address challenges, and showcase best practices. Visitors from all over Europe are invited to observe and participate in these efforts.
