Change won’t happen by itself.
Equity in Action is a mindset as much as it is a program. We don’t want things to stay the same, because we know that oppression is taking place, but we know that systemic racism is too big of a challenge to tackle alone.
Our belief is that communities possess the power to dismantle systemic racism, and that if we can create equity for those who are oppressed, that over time, we can create a world where all people are seen as equal.
Our 9-week program provides a structured approach to solving these challenges. Communities can deploy the program with little to no expertise in social justice issues. An Equity in Action representative will help your community get started, and as leaders emerge through initial workshops, responsibility for program management will transition back to the community.
The program has three main objectives:
1) Educating and informing all people on the history of racism in America
2) Fostering opportunities for racial minority groups
3) Removing symbols of oppression from society
There’s no reason to sit back and wait for change to happen at the national level. It’s not going to happen. We need to be self-aware to the atrocities that America has perpetrated on the basis of race, and take responsibility for making it right within our local communities.
Together, we can lift those who have been knocked down, which will move America forward.
