Enactus is an international Not For Profit organisation that brings together a community of determined students and business leaders. With a presence in around 39 countries and with over 72,000 active student members, Enactus believes in improving the world through entrepreneurial action.
Established in 2007, Enactus, Jesus and Mary College, strives to uplift marginalised communities through its social entrepreneurship projects and is committed to make this world a better place. Currently, Enactus JMC has 3 ongoing projects- Project Dhara, Project Iffat and Project Sugam.
Project Dhara was conceptualised with the two-fold objective of tackling the recurring problem of waste management and providing employment to marginalised slum women. These women are employed to produce 100% organic manure.
Project Iffat is an innovative undertaking that promotes improved sanitation by up-cycling barely used soap bars from hotels and turning them into new soap cakes. These soap bars are produced by women affected by HIV and AIDS and are sold at minimal prices in areas facing sanitation issues.
Project Sugam aims to create sustainable and publicly accessible ecobrick washrooms at locations across India, where there is an absence of proper sanitation facilities. It aims to combat the dual problem of increasing plastic waste as well as the practice of open defecation.
