Mandated by the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 and supported by federal, state, and philanthropic funding, EWIB accomplishes these goals in its 41-town service area by coordinating a dedicated network of partners to implement programs and initiatives including:
Three American Job Center-East locations
Industry-driven Manufacturing and Healthcare workforce pipeline programs
A variety of workforce preparation programs for youth
A range of services for employers
EWIB is governed by a private-sector-majority Board of Directors comprised of representatives from regional businesses, state agencies, organized labor, educational institutions, and other stakeholders. EWIB has earned national recognition for its collaborative and demand-driven approach to workforce development. EWIB will continue to facilitate cross-sector partnerships that design and deliver innovative solutions to the needs of workers and businesses and leverage Eastern Connecticut’s most valuable asset – its dynamic workforce.
