Established in 1992, the Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy is an applied research center within the Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Johnson Center provides:
• Competency-based professional development
• Applied research and evaluation
• Resources and tools to transform communities for the public good
We are proud to spearhead many first-of-their-kind leadership roles and publications that benefit the field of philanthropy. These include the Frey Chair for Family Philanthropy and the W.K. Kellogg Community Philanthropy Chair, both of which support original research in the field. In addition, we publish “The Foundation Review,” the first peer-reviewed journal of philanthropy.
