Established in 2020, and inspired by Saudi Arabia’s rich cultural heritage, its artists and makers, the Diriyah Biennale Foundation (DBF) strives to nurture creative expression and instill appreciation for the transformative power of the arts. As a central part of its mission, the Foundation stages two world-class biennales in contemporary and Islamic arts, complemented by year-round educational programs focused on engaging public audiences.
The Foundation’s Contemporary Art Biennale was the first-of-its-kind in the Kingdom, hosted in the JAX District of Diriyah. Followed by the inaugural edition of the Islamic Arts Biennale, the first-of-its-kind in the world, interweaving contemporary works and never-before-seen historic artifacts. The event was held at the Aga Khan Award-winning Western Hajj Terminal of the King Abudlaziz International Airport in Jeddah.
The second edition of the Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale will be held at JAX District in Diriyah, Riyadh on February 20, 2024.
