Our MISSION is to empower all genders to realize their full potential regardless of gender. We were founded by Ina Bhoopalam, an 18-year old from Nebraska in 2016. Since then, we have run over 40 multiweek programs, impacted over 500 young people, and become a globally recognized movement.
We strive to fulfill our mission by upholding our three pillars: Empowerment, Education, and Advocacy.
1. We strive to EMPOWER children to become capable young leaders who are confident in their goals and dreams.
2. We seek to EDUCATE our communities about the negative effects of gender stereotypes and how to effectively combat them.
3. We work to ADVOCATE for a more gender-sensitive education system and world.
DREAM EQUAL is revolutionary, tackling the issue of gender inequality in ways that no other initiative has ever done before.
1. PREVENTION NOT CURE: By focusing our efforts on young kids and combatting gender stereotypes at the age in which they develop, we are working to prevent the issue of gender inequality instead of curing it after it has already become a problem.
2. ALL GENDERS: Gender inequality affects everyone men, women, and non-binary people. And, to reach global gender equality we need to focus on everyone. That's why at DREAM EQUAL we concentrate on the effects of the issue on all genders, not just cis-girls.
3. ACCESSIBLE: We charge no fees for all of our programs and do our best to maintain a diverse youth-led team. By doing this we are able to make our programs accessible to people of all socioeconomic levels and welcoming to people of all backgrounds.
