Founded in 2018 by BSc Population Health student Aliza Ayaz, the UCL Climate Action Society aims to confront the complexities of climate change and discover the multitudes of ways to pursue environmental interests on campus and beyond.
The society has four primary objectives:
1) To improve the education and raise awareness on student and university institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaption, impact reduction and early warning
2) To integrate climate change measures into coursework, national policies, strategies and planning, supporting internships and careers
3) To strengthen resilience among students, to produce adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards
4) To understand the role of governments, non-governmental organisations, international organisations, businesses, media and the world population in climate action.
We hope to see you participating in our activities!
CAS is a pioneering non profit organisation at the front line of student action geared in yielding
progression for environmental causes. We aim to promote action on a consumer level, inspiring
individuals through education to make changes which liberate them from traditional narratives.
Simultaneously, we influence business minded entrepreneurs, aiming to shift perspectives on
ethical business practice, thus we are navigating careers in sustainability. Further, we aim to
dissolve the stereotypes associated with who is involved in environmental protection, through
projects and initiatives; we have been able to promote inclusion and diversity, making the
discussion accessible for BME individuals. Through the Symposium, we hope to inspire a
generation of people to make change both within themselves and in the environment around
them.
