The Global Centre of Excellence in Circular Economy was established as a follow up in the aim to fulfill the Adelaide 3R Declaration towards the Promotion of Circular Economy in Asia and the Pacific under the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The Adelaide 3R Declaration was agreed by the member countries at the 7th Regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific in 2016, hosted by the Australian Government, Government of South Australia along with the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
