Children of the Dump works with children growing up around the filth and deprivation of the city rubbish dumps of Manila in the Philippines to ensure that they get an education as an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty. Often the children and their families are directly involved with the process of scavenging on these sites to find scraps to eat or sell. There is no spare cash to get the children into school.
The charity has 3 programmes working around the Payatas and San Isidro Dumps in Manila and is staffed on the ground only by fully trained and qualified Filipinos;
Cashew Early Years School for 4 to 6 year olds
Grapevine Outreach sponsors families to ensure that they can send their children to public school
Mango Tree House which is a small residential home for disadvantaged children who have no other place to go
The charity is always looking for more help. Each child is matched with a regular sponsor (either an individual or a group of friends or family members) who, in addition to giving a small monthly financial contribution may like to write to their child and get replies back. Existing sponsors find this incredibly rewarding
If you would like to make a one off donation you can do that on Facebook or through our website whether all the money goes straight to the charity without fees
Maybe you could fundraise for the children; running a marathon, donating your time at an event or even just sharing our story with others
We also need volunteers to help improve both our Digital Marketing and our Fundraising activities
Visit our website, follow us on Facebook , phone or email for more details and to see how these children's lives have been turned round
