CanAssist strives to be a highly respected national resource that collaborates with UVic researchers and students, as well as diverse external partners, to provide people who experience physical or cognitive barriers with innovative technologies, programs and services that address unmet needs and increase independence, inclusion and well-being.
• We are a core team of about 35 professionals - including engineers, software developers and program coordinators - who are dedicated to helping people of all ages and from across the disability spectrum to increase their independence and quality of life;
• We are part of UVic's vibrant campus, with ready access to its outstanding faculty, students, research facilities and administrative resources;
• We have engaged thousands of students and faculty over the years in our activities, in areas such as technology development, working with clients, research, volunteering, classes and workshops;
• We raise awareness of disability issues on campus, in the local community and beyond; and
• We reflect the University of Victoria's commitment to community engagement and disability issues as well as its leadership in these areas.
