Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Centre is one of the pioneering entities that promote responsible businesses in Bangladesh. The Centre was established with private sector start-up funding to raise CSR awareness. Registered as an autonomous non-profit Trust it was launched in September 2007 under the direction of a Board of Trustees comprising of leading private sector companies (both local and multinational) and civil society organizations (CSOs) along with Mr. Farooq Sobhan (President, BEI) as the founding Chairman.
The Centre’s mission is "to establish CSR as a key strategy for corporate excellence in Bangladesh in order to maximize stakeholders’ benefits" and to accomplish its mission the Centre has partnered many organizations.
CSR Centre is the joint focal point for UN Global Compact in Bangladesh. Since its inception, it has been promoting the principles of UN Global Compact in the country through various initiatives.
