The water & HIV crises are inextricably linked. And Africa is impacted by both – half of the world's population that lacks safe water & 68% of the global population living with HIV.
Historically, clean water with proper sanitation & hygiene (WASH) was the only way to slow disease progression. So the interconnectedness of WASH & HIV/AIDS was life or death.
Many locally-led African nonprofits address both challenges – SDGs 3 & 6 at once. But the global development sector still silos these global health crises making it harder for community-driven organizations to strengthen their reach and effectiveness.
Blood:Water is an international nonprofit that partners with African community-driven and -led organizations to end water & HIV/AIDS health disparities through organizational strengthening and financial support.
