Founded in 1999, Bark is a place-based, community-powered organization focused on defending and restoring Mt. Hood National Forest and surrounding public lands.
Our mission is to transform Mt. Hood National Forest into a place where natural processes prevail, wildlife thrives, and local communities have a social, cultural, and economic investment in its restoration and preservation.
We offer free educational programs, guided hikes, trainings, and other events both in the Forest and in our office. Our office location in SE Portland provides a gathering place, lending library, and meeting space for our staff and volunteers.
