OUR MISSION The British Columbia Sports Hall of Fame preserves and honours BC’s sport heritage by recognizing extraordinary achievements in sport by using our collection and stories to inspire all British Columbians to pursue their dreams. OUR VALUES Integrity Respect Inspiration INTRODUCTION The BC Sports Hall of Fame opened in 1966 and since then has inspired excellence by celebrating British Columbia’s rich sporting heritage. The Sports Hall educates, entertains and inspires through its galleries, artifact collection, programs and participation zone by sharing stories of outstanding achievements in sport in British Columbia. The Sports Hall showcases the remarkable accomplishments of individual athletes, teams, and communities that have contributed to the development of sport in the province of British Columbia. The BC Sports Hall of Fame is recognized throughout Canada as a leading archival organization, specializing in the collection of sport artifacts. Held in the public trust, the collection is preserved, interpreted and exhibited through educational programs, loaned programs, and the permanent and temporary displays following the standards of the Canadian Conservation Institute. Each year, over 30,000 guests from British Columbia tour the galleries of the Sports Hall and experience the rich historical, cultural and artistic possibilities that have been realized through the history of sport in our province. In the community we through our outreach programs we connect with an additional 40,000 plus people.
