he Alliance for the Arts serves the entire cultural community through research and advocacy and serves the public through cultural guides and calendars. We publish information on the arts and cultural events in New York City as well as studies highlighting the importance of the arts to the economy and to education.
The Alliance is:
A resource. We serve constituencies in New York City, New York State and across the US, including
* Children, parents and teachers
* The general public and visitors to New York
* New York's cultural community
* Government and civic leaders and researchers
* Artists, curators and historians.
An advocate. We help government and civic leaders understand the importance of cultural organizations to our city. We make the case for more support for culture from all levels of government.
An information resource. The Alliance publishes NYC ARTS (http://www.NYC-ARTS.org, http://www.NYCkidsARTS,.org, and NYC ARTSApps: NYC ARTS iPhone App and Widget Builder--and an online guide for the state, http://www.NYStateARTS.org.
A think tank. We study the arts as an industry, measuring the importance of culture to the economy and to education. Our reports inform the press and public officials and support the development of the cultural community.
