Alberta Lung raises funds for critical research, advocates in public policy, provides patient support, and is the primary lung health information source.
We began in 1939 as the Alberta Tuberculosis Association. At that time our goal was to educate the public about tuberculosis (TB), conduct mass chest X-rays and provide a rehabilitation service for TB sanitorium patients.
Over the years, we broadened our scope to encompass all aspects of lung health. Current areas of focus include issues related to asthma, allergies, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), lung cancer, flu, infectious diseases, environmental issues, smoking prevention and cessation, sleep apnea, and continued work in the area of TB.
Today, our efforts are driven by the following:
Our Mission:
We raise money and provide funding for research and prevention of lung disease and patient support.
Our Vision:
To create a world free of lung disease.
