Abc Active Contributions For People And The Environment

ABC - active contributions for people and the environment (ABC - aktiva insatser för människa och miljö) is an independent NGO situated in Lund, Sweden since 1998. ABC works within the fields of human rights, democracy, education, empowerment, sustainable development, gender equality, environmental awareness, health care and fair trade. ABC co-operates with local NGO’s, institutions, and individuals in India, Nepal and also locally in Sweden with long-term and small-scale projects. The principle of help to self help is central in all our engagements. ABC also runs a volunteer program in Northern India where volunteers can work with human rights, health care, gender equality, environmental awareness, education or development projects at our sister organization HIMAD:s Education Center. ABC:s projects are supported by Sida, Forum Syd, Allmänna Arvsfonden, Radiohjälpen, Study Association Sensus, and others. In addition to the projects abroad and locally, ABC also promotes fair trade by educating people of Sweden about fair trade through facilitation of Fairtrade Sweden's ambassadors courses, arranging fair trade brunches as well as by selling fair trade products, partly supplied by ABC´s own co-operation with producers in India, at different events, markets and meetings.
