gu wenda, born in 1955 in shanghai, is an artist who works in a variety of mediums, including painting and installation. he was the founder of china contemporary ink painting. he is known for his use of bodily materials, such as human hair installations in an ongoing global project "united nations". he currently lives and works in brooklyn, new york and shanghai.
