Grounds for Health has worked to prevent cervical cancer in coffee-growing communities in Latin America and Africa since 1996. A woman dies from cervical cancer every two minutes, yet it is entirely preventable. Without access to high quality care, coffee communities have some of the highest rates of cervical cancer in the world. We solve this inequality with simple, cost-effective programs that are proven to work.
By bringing together coffee lovers and women's health advocates, we are able to break barriers that stand between women and preventive care, providing services that can save lives and strengthen families and communities. To date, over 217,000 women have been screened and nearly 18,000 women have been treated for cervical cancer.
To make sure our programs are sustainable, we invest in the education and training of community health promoters, doctors and nurses.
