The Taiwan AI Labs (台灣人工智慧實驗室) is headed by Ethan Tu, a former principal development manager at U.S.-based tech giant Microsoft Corp. He is well-known as founding in his home country for creating the PTT that has grown into one of Taiwan’s most influential online forums since its launch in 1995.
Efforts to bolster the development of the nation’s artificial intelligence sector are gaining momentum following the announcement of plans to establish the Taiwan AI Labs later this year in Taipei City, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology April 27.
A privately funded research organization, the new facility will aim to integrate AI expertise and resources from the academic, public and private sectors.
