Founded in December 2014, Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (SFIEC) is the first non-public foundation in mainland China that aims to promote Shenzhen’s international engagement and help build a “Shenzhen Identity” as an innovation-oriented global city. Our mission is to establish platforms for international exchange and cooperation, facilitate the innovation and internationalization of Shenzhen and engage other social entities in global governance.
By Far, SFIEC has developed and funded a total of 70 projects, promoting over 280 events of international exchange in 30 cities of 22 countries in 6 continents. Covering 8 main different fields including trade and commerce, science and technology, education, culture, art, environmental protection, sister cities exchange, health and hygiene; those events have benefited over 7,000 people in total. Through integrating resources from diverse sectors, SFIEC has grown into a highly recognized anchor organization in Shenzhen for international cooperation among enterprises, think tanks and nonprofits.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of SFIEC is Mr. Wang Shi, Founder and Honorary Chairman of Vanke Co. Ltd; and four honorary Presidents as being Mr. Ma Weihua, former CEO of China Merchants Bank, Mr. Lang Lang, world-renowned pianist, Shenzhen Goodwill Ambassador and UN Ambassador of Peace.
As Shenzhen accelerates its globalization, SFIEC will place more emphasis on projects related to regional development (e.g. “Shenzhen x Lancang-Mekong Initiative”), connectivity (e.g. CityPlus.com) and NGO empowerment (eg. Value Plus) to continue the effort of telling the inspiring story of Shenzhen to the world.
