Queensland Youth Services (QYS) is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation that has been providing support services to vulnerable youth in North Queensland since 1978.
Through the delivery of specialised, holistic programs and services, the organisation aims to help young people aged 12 through to 25 be the best they can be by helping them realise their potential to lead an independent, sustainable, and positive life on their own.
QYS’ ultimate goal is to encourage young people to move from being a victim of their circumstances to becoming the instrument of their empowerment. With a focus placed on alleviating issues surrounding youth homelessness, driver education, young parenthood, early intervention to offending behaviour, mental health, education, training, employment and much more, QYS helps create sustainable lifestyles.
Young people facing adversity, or those who need a helping hand on their path to independence, can seek refuge by contacting QYS to become a client of one of the organisation’s six support programs. These include (1) the Youth Housing and Reintegration Service, (2) the LearnIT Learner Driver Mentor Program, (3) Reconnect, (4) the Young Parents Program, (5) Strengthening Young Minds and (6) Project Overhaul. Age, location, and eligibility requirements apply per program.
