The East African Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) is an initiative of the World Bank and African Governments to increase access and improve the quality of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in selected TVET Centers of Excellence.
The Government of Kenya through the World Bank is therefore helping Kenya Coast National Polytechnic to develop a Regional Centre of Excellence in Marine Transport & Port logistics in Kwale County, a centre which aims at developing competent graduates for the maritime sector.
This is in line with the Government’s “blue economy” concept that seeks to promote economic growth, social inclusion, and preservation or improvement of livelihoods while at the same time ensuring environmental sustainability of our coastline. This is a KES 1.2 billion project covering areas such strengthening of governance, industry linkages, curriculum development, staff training, upgrading key training facilities & equipment and outreach to other TVET institutions.
