UXBRIDGE Arts & Culture was founded at 35 Uxbridge Road, Howick in 1981, when the former Howick Borough Council purchased the Uxbridge Presbyterian Church and associated buildings. The Council facilitated the establishment of the Uxbridge Community Projects, an incorporated society, to operate the facilities for the community, providing arts and cultural activities.
CLASSES & WORKSHOPS
UXBRIDGE is dedicated to the provision of high quality classes and workshops. Our professional tutors inspire, support and encourage students enabling them to reach their full potential. The programme is a stimulating blend of creative opportunities and cultural experiences. We motivate beginners to get started, we nurture children so they become our 'artists of the future', we guide advanced students so they reflect and consider their own work
THEATRE & EVENTS
The UXBRIDGE thatre, a hidden gem on your doorstep offers a high quality and varied programme showcasing music, dance, comedy, film and theatre from emerging performers to globe trotting bands and headlining acts. The events programme is supported by a vibrant and exciting mix of outdoor, community and performance events for all ages and cultures. Tours and visits to places of interest are a regular feature in our seniors programme.
EXHIBITIONS
Our exhibitions at the Malcolm Smith Gallery present contemporary art reflective of the best in national work. Through our socially responsive projects, we develop the practice and appreciation of contemporary art in all its creative diversity, reflecting and strengthening the full diversity of cultural identities, interests and potentials of our communities.
