Prime Energy Corporation® was established to develop the PowerJetTM wind turbine – a revolutionary horizontal axis (downwind) turbine designed for use in the small wind market. The PowerJetTM’s patented technology features enclosed blades that are attached to housing on both ends. Extensive field testing has proven increased output, efficiency, durability and reliability beyond that of similar-sized 3-bladed counterparts. The PowerJetTM functions silently and safely, and the simplicity of its design allows it to be manufactured from a wide range of materials. It is equally suited as a stand-alone system in remote locations, and as a supplemental source of energy that easily integrates with solar and other energy systems. Initial private investments of $2.5 million enabled Prime Energy® to perfect the PowerJetTM’s design and optimize the turbine’s performance. Final design and testing were completed in 2008, funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The PowerJetTM was exhibited at AWEA’s 2nd Annual Small & Community Wind Conference (Portland, Oregon, Dec 2010).
