The Cultural Centre Narodni dom was established in September 1992 by the Municipality of Maribor. Symbolicaly we are located in the building which in the first half of the 20th Century has been the domicile for the cultural and national revival of the Slovene people living both in Maribor and elsewhere. Narodni dom Maribor acts as an organizer of various types of events throughout the year, which encompass our repertoire. For an overview of Narodni dom’s activities here are some numbers for years 2008 and 2009: the number of events organised in 2008 sums up to 948 and in 2009 to 1.311 events. Consequently number of visitors has increased as well from approx. 675.000 to more than 700.000 in 2009. Festival Lent has been the backbone of the Cultural centre Narodni dom Maribor since its establishment in September 1992. Today the festival is the largest open-air event in our country and one of the biggest summer festivals in Europe.
