Radio Caracas Television (RCTV) was founded in 1953 and for more than 54 years was the leading over-the-air television channel and production company in Venezuela. RCTV’s programming has been sold in more than 120 countries and translated to more than 40 languages. For many years, Venezuela served as the test market for Latin-oriented programming, putting RCTV at the forefront of innovative regional production and setting the industry standard for the genre.
In 2007, RCTV entered the Venezuelan subscription television market as RCTV Internacional, immediately becoming the market leader and doubling the audience of its nearest competitor. Cable subscriptions increased from 1.3% quarterly growth to 10.5% in less than one year.
Our facilities allow us to produce in excess of 12 daily hours of programming for both over-the-air and subscription television. RCTV is also able to produce more than 1,300 hours of telenovelas, drama, comedy and entertainment shows per year.
RCTV owns a library of more than 22,000 hours of telenovelas, 8,000 hours of comedy, entertainment and variety shows and 5,000 hours of news and opinion programs, creating one of the most important archives in the continent which guarantees programming for RCTV’s channels for several years to come.
RCTV is recognized as one of the leading producers of telenovelas worldwide, and many of our telenovelas have been international blockbusters, including classics such as "Leonela", "Cristal", "La Dama de Rosa" and "Kassandra" as well as recent hits like "Mi Gorda Bella", "Mis Tres Hermanas", "Juana La Virgen", "La Mujer de Judas" and "Angelica Pecado".
