Our mission is to unlock the potential of international commercial arbitration in Africa, empower future African lawyers and promote diversity and equal representation in international arbitration.
Africa in the Moot is a growing group of individuals and institutions using their individual skillsets and resources to support students from African universities in the field of arbitration and to support African universities who want to enhance teaching in the field of international commercial law and arbitration.
Our intention is to support future practitioners from the African continent as part of the global international arbitration community and to increase arbitration awareness, experience, and expertise in the region.
What do we do?
We support students in their participation in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court, held annually in Vienna and Hong Kong. It is the largest moot court in commercial law and arbitration and offers students an excellent opportunity to expand their skills and network and to kick-start their career in the field of arbitration. We support students through coaching (both remote and on the ground), know-how, education and training, organizational and financial support.
How can you help?
We hope to contribute to a truly global arbitration community with appropriate representation and opportunities for African students. We welcome financial and other support from individuals, law firms, and institutions. If you are interested in joining our initiative please reach out to us at info@africainthemoot.com
