Special Tree provides hope, encouragement, and expertise for people who have experienced brain and spinal cord injuries, leveraging advanced technologies and evidence-based practices to help people achieve the best outcomes possible. Rehabilitation programs for adults and children optimize healing at every stage of recovery, from complex medical needs to outpatient therapy. Services include subacute treatment with specialized 24-hour nursing and respiratory care, residential and supporting living programs, therapy and outpatient services, and vocational rehabilitation at 30 locations throughout the state.
Physicians, therapists, and rehabilitation specialists work closely together to develop integrated treatment tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals. Rehabilitation is focused on helping people maximize their independence to successfully transition to home, community, school, and work. Special Tree's innovative vocational rehabilitation program provides real paid work experiences on-site and in the community to prepare patients for competitive employment.
Special Tree has earned the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and Michigan Quality Council’s highest honors, and has been named a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace in Michigan every year since 2010.
