Danida Fellowship Centre was inaugurated in 1990 and took over the premises at Frederiksberg in 1992, but fellowship activities under the auspices of what later became DFC began as far back as 1964.
In 2008 the administration of the Danida research development grants was outsourced to DFC.
In 2016 DFC launched Danida Alumni Network for current and former Danida fellows.
