California Clubhouse is a peer-run non-profit recovery-based organization located in San Carlos, CA. One of 340+ principally-aligned communities, all of which are interconnected through Clubhouse International's Global Networking HUB, Clubhouses ultimately aim to provide evidence-based programs and peer supportive services to help their members in need. Our incomparable approach, to strength-based recovery support, focuses on building a supportive community where members can recover through work and work-mediated relationships.
Unique to the Clubhouse model, members and staff of the organization work side-by-side to complete the daily needs of the organization's operations. At a Clubhouse, members are treated equally to staff and thus are invited to take ownership and participation in all aspects of the work of the Clubhouse.
During a typical Work-Ordered-Day, peers work together on items such as fundraising, daily meal prepping, perhaps hiring/evaluating/training of program staff, and much much more. Staff will offer a positive, supportive relationship that helps promote hope, choice, wellness and recovery for participants while working together as colleagues and mentors. Program Generalists of a Clubhouse provide consistency within the work unit structure, ensuring an environment where opportunities for meaningful work and meaningful work-mediated relationships can thrive. Regularly emphasizing the community's need for each individuals' support has provided members with a sense of purpose, dignity, and hope in their recovery. Opportunities for members to support grant writing, data entry, housekeeping, and outreach bring a variety of skill-building activities designed to strengthen skills and maximize individual potential.
At California Clubhouse we believe that every member can lead a satisfying and productive life, and we empower our members to take responsibility and leadership to build the success of the organization.
