At the forefront of orthopaedic medicine, education and innovation, the National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh offers the largest concentration of orthopaedic expertise in Ireland. Here we bring together the skills, knowledge and diverse subspecialty expertise of our consultant body to deliver cutting-edge treatments.
We offer a national service for the people of Ireland, providing a national orthopaedic service for the treatment of lower and upper limb and spinal surgery. Moreover, we are the National Patient Referral Centre for Primary Bone & Soft Tissue Tumours, and the dedicated Orthopaedic Surgical Oncology Centre for the National Sarcoma Service. The Hospital is also home to Cappagh Kids Department of Paediatric Orthopaedic Medicine and the National Bone Bank and offers Rheumatology, Sports & Exercise Medicine, and Specialist Rehabilitation Services.
We treat musculoskeletal conditions that may be present at birth, resulting from an accident or illness, or related to ageing. Patients must be referred to the Hospital by their GP or another healthcare expert. Surgeries are elective, which means that they are not urgent life-saving procedures, but rather, surgeries that can be scheduled for a future date.
We are pioneers of the first hip replacement surgery, two-surgeon approach to scoliosis surgery, and same-day hip replacement and discharge surgery in Ireland. Committed to the highest standards of research and education, the Hospital collaborates with academic institutions and industry to drive innovation, setting the highest standards in orthopaedic education and practice.
The National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh is a Voluntary Hospital, member of the Ireland East Hospital Group, and a Registered Charity, RCN 20058685.
