The World Zionist Organization (WZO) is committed to strengthening Israel as a Jewish, Zionist and democratic state and shaping it as an exemplary society with a unique moral and spiritual character, striving for peace and contributing to the betterment of the world.
The Jerusalem Program, the official platform of the Zionist Movement, is dedicated to instilling the centrality of Israel and Jerusalem its capital deep within the Jewish consciousness, and to bringing about a return to Zion, the fashioning of the Jewish state as an exemplary society, Hebrew language instruction, Zionist education, settlement of the land, and the containment anti-Semitism.
The WZO strives to enhance the impact of Zionist ideology and activity in Jewish communities around the world, including Israel, both by working through the Zionist Federations and their constituent bodies, and by influencing the agenda of the organized Jewish community, particularly through its involvement with the Jewish Agency for Israel.
The WZO places a particular emphasis on transmitting Zionist values to Jewish youth and continually developing a new generation of Zionist leadership. It cherishes its responsibility for safeguarding the memory and furthering the legacy of its founder, Theodor Binyamin Ze'ev Herzl.
