Located in the heart of Atlanta, Chastain Horse Park (CHP) is the only PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) Intl. Premiere Accredited Center in the metro area. This designation confirms that our center operates according to the highest industry standards and practices, foremost safety, professionalism and credibility. We currently have six PATH Intl. certified instructors, as well as occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists for hippotherapy.
We firmly believe that working with horses can have a major physical, cognitive and emotional impact on people with a wide variety of issues and disabilities. And given the very strong correlation between disability, poverty and low education, CHP is able to subsidize 50% of every Therapeutic Program session and provide full and partial scholarships to those in most need. To achieve this, we rely on the generous donations from our community as well as the earned income rental fees from our clubhouse banquet facilities.
In addition, we rely on the support of our robust volunteer program, including at least 1,000 volunteer slots that we fill each month. Depending on the needs of the rider, it can take up to three volunteers to support each therapeutic lesson. In 2017 alone, volunteers donated more than 14,000 hours to enrich the lives of others.
In our 20-year tenure as a non-profit organization, CHP has served a diverse group of thousands of individuals, encompassing all ages and needs regardless of abilities and has made a significant lasting impact towards a fully inclusive, more caring community. Join us on our ride as we continue healing through horses.
