Archon Group was originally formed as a joint venture between Goldman Sachs and J E Robert Co. and was one of the most prolific buyers of distressed assets from the Resolution Trust Corporation. In 2000, Goldman Sachs acquired 100% of Archon, fully integrating it as an in-house platform, exclusive to Goldman Sachs.
Archon has created synergistic business platforms including real estate finance, mezzanine finance, corporate finance, distressed corporate finance and C&I loans, real estate equity, and residential loan servicing.
