Savage Hart Farm is owned and operated by Peggy & Todd Allen. Neither has previous farm experience.
While vacationing in September 2011, Peg & Todd visited a small sheep farm with an even smaller shop selling yarn and roving. The owner told us all about her operation, to which Todd said, “Annette, you are living my wife’s dream.” That just made her go on longer. Annette introduced Peg to her flock and Todd to her border collies. As they got back in the car and drove off, Todd said, “You know, if I could get a dog like that, I just might think about this sheep farm thing.”
After months of research and planning, Peg & Todd moved in July 2012 into a beautiful Timberpeg post and beam home on 32 acres at the top of Savage Hill in Hartford, VT. With 25 acres of grass, a perfect home for a growing flock. And with panoramic views of the upland bowl that is Jericho and Vermont’s Green Mountains to the west, Savage Hart Farm is a spectacular setting for Peg & Todd to call home and to welcome guests.
The flock - mostly colored Corriedales - arrived at the farm a month after Peg & Todd. The fleece colors range from sand to deep brown to almost black and we have processed them into roving for hand spinners and yarn. We sell the roving and yarn on our website and at local Farmers' Markets and fairs.
In July 2013 the Apartment at Savage Hart Farm opened for business. We have a 1BR/1BA or a 2BR/2BA configuration available for rent. Private, quiet, remote yet close to so much.
