Tackling Minds was formed in 2020 and has now established itself as the leading provider of Mental Health and Wellbeing Angling events. Our aim is to continue to provide events for people suffering from a range of issues including but not limited to Mental Health, Social Deprivation, Addiction and Recovery, Long Term Health Conditions and Disabilities.
Our objectives are:
1. Improve the mental health and wellbeing of people who are suffering from one or more of the
above issues
2. Provide opportunities to participate in Angling and engage with the local environment
3. Encourage an interest in a sport and outside activities
4. Develop individuals by providing opportunities for upskilling, social
engagement and volunteering
5. Provide an opportunity for people to re-engage with society following illness, a period of
inactivity.
Tackling Minds aims to provide a positive and distinctive contribution to people’s health and wellbeing by encouraging participation in Angling and providing opportunities for people to flourish through the proven benefits of fishing:
a. Differing levels of exercise
b. Engagement with ‘blue – green spaces’
c. Positive mental health
d. Stress relief
e. Supporting community-based programmes – Social Prescribing
f. Social Engagement - facilitates relationship building, connection, and participation in social
life - essential to securing wellbeing and active ageing
