Spirit of 77- a fresh and slightly subversive take on the Sports Bar– The name refers directly to the Blazer’s championship season, and more generally to that basic shared sense of community that a winning season creates. Because, at its heart, a Sports Bar is a collective experience: you go to watch the game with strangers- to either root with or against them. There is a kind of community in it, a moment when the chatter stops and the crowd cheers (or moans) in unison.
The Restaurant and Bar:
Taking a very light-hearted, DIY approach to this project– trying to dial back some of the Sports Bar stereotypes without losing the spectacle of the sport or forgetting that ultimately you’re here to drink, eat good food and watch the game.
Four 55-inch TV’s supplemented by a 9’ x 16” projected screen– as close as you can get to seeing the game live (but with much better food). And because we like playing games as much as watching them, we have 3 dart boards, a classic Rene Pierre Zinc foosball table, and a 4-lane basketball arcade we call The Buzzer Beater, built from scratch by our own hands. We have also provided indoor bike parking that accommodates (at least officially) up to 15 bikes at a time.
