Working on behalf of the public, The Commissioner is responsible for: POLICE - Holding the Chief Constable to account for an efficient and effective local police service. - Setting policing and crime priorities via their plan, and oversees the police budget. - Supporting community safety activities and - Providing victims of crime with a range of services. FIRE AND RESCUE - Holding the Chief Fire Officer to account for an efficient and effective local fire and rescue service. - Setting priorities via the Fire and Rescue Plan, and oversees the fire service budget. - Providing specialist safety services for vulnerable members of our community.
