The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is the regulatory body that grants licences to qualified professionals to practice medicine in Ontario. CPSO is responsible for setting and maintaining standards, investigating complaints about physicians on behalf of the public, and disciplining doctors found to have committed act(s) of professional misconduct. CPSO has a legislated mandate to ensure quality care is provided by physicians.
