The First Nations Education Steering Committee, founded in 1992, is committed to advancing quality education for all First Nations students in BC.
Directed by a board of approximately 117 First Nations community representatives, FNESC works at the provincial level to provide services in the areas of research, communications, information dissemination, advocacy, program administration and networking.
In addition, FNESC strives to build partnerships with federal and provincial agencies and other relevant stakeholders in order to communicate the issues and concerns of BC First Nations and ensure that they are meaningfully addressed.
FNESC works in close partnership with the First Nations School Association (FNSA), and the Indigenous Adult Higher Learning Association (IAHLA), as well as other partner organizations.
